Dr. Lauren Schneider is a board-certified specialist in the medical and surgical management of cornea and external diseases. In addition to cataract surgery, specialized corneal procedures, and corneal transplants, she also performs state-of-the-art refractive surgery, including LASIK and PRK.
Dr. Schneider received her undergraduate degree from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, where she graduated Cum Laude. She received her Doctorate of Medicine from SUNY Downstate College of Medicine in Brooklyn, New York.
Dr. Schneider graduated in the top 3% of her medical school class, thus earning an early induction into the highly respected Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.
Dr. Schneider completed her medical internship at Mount Sinai Beth Israel in New York City and then completed her residency training in ophthalmology at the esteemed New York Eye and Ear Infirmary in Manhattan. Following residency, she acquired her fellowship training in cornea, external diseases, and refractive surgery at the renowned Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Dr. Schneider is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, as well as the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. She has presented original research at nationwide conferences, and is a published author of articles and book chapters pertaining to corneal disorders and the artificial cornea (keratoprosthesis). Dr. Schneider also holds a clinical teaching position at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai.
Dr. Schneider is a caring and compassionate physician, who is committed to providing the highest quality care to her patients. She specializes in the diagnosis and management of corneal disorders, including keratoconus, Fuchs’ endothelial dystrophy, inherited corneal dystrophies, herpetic keratitis, and dry eye syndrome. She is a trained surgeon in corneal transplantation (including the DSAEK and the highly advanced DMEK procedures), laser vision correction surgery (LASIK and PRK), premium intraocular lenses, and femtosecond-assisted cataract surgery using the latest laser technology for eye surgery. Dr. Schneider strives to improve the quality of life of her patients through vision correction procedures, and she uses advanced techniques that enable her to customize cataract surgery for each individual patient’s needs.
