Patient Reviews
Dr. Lauren Schneider is one of the most outstanding specialists to whom I entrust my care. She is intelligent, highly skilled, warm and accessible, and always a pleasure to deal with; she makes one feel as though he or she is the only patient with whom she is dealing, answering all questions and concerns both patiently and clearly. Specifically, she successfully cured my severe myopia/astigmatism (of about 60 years’ standing!) via painless and uneventful cataract surgery 3.5 years ago, after which I still am enjoying perfect vision!!! Every examination before and since that event has been careful, solicitous and informative. Also, the support staff deserve a shout-out for being polite, professional, friendly, and accommodating. I can’t recommend this doctor, and this practice, strongly enough.
My eyes were fine until I started going to Stamford Ophthalmology and their Dr Lauren Schneider one year ago. She immediately put me on Betimol eye drops due to what she called high IOP for glaucoma without the full required panoply of tests. My previous glaucoma specialist at Yale had just said to monitor the situation. The drops—a cheap physician sample and not for resale contained BAK, a preservative that damages the eye surface. She had me on that for 5 months before and after a Selective Laser Trabelectomy (SLT). I subsequently developed recurrent corneal erosion—a painful and debilitating condition. No problem says Schneider, I’ll do more surgery with diamond burrs, despite what other doctors recommend—a less aggressive approach of OTC medications. When all you have is a hammer (a surgeon’s laser) everything looks like a nail. I won’t go back to her and advise you to stay away. She lacks empathy, and the office’s portal—the only way to communicate with the ophthalmologist—has been down for months.
DO NOT GO! While the DR appointment was thorough I have had countless issues with the billing department. The office manager hangs up repeatedly with out explanation and should absolutely have no role in customer service.
